- Where to Stay in Aewol
Three hotels on one Aewol coast road, 9.7–12.8km from the airport, so location barely separates them. Scores run 7.7 to 8.9; building age, views and rooms differ.
- Without a Car
Renting on Jeju needs an International Driving Permit arranged before you fly. Without one, only two of the island's seven stay areas hold up — and the bus terminal decides which.
- City Hotels
Seven Jeju City hotels compared. All sit 2–3km from the airport and the bus terminal, so what decides is the shuttle, the check-out hour and which side of town you walk into.
- Jungmun Resorts
The resort hotels in Jungmun, Jeju compared. Distance to the beach runs from 350m to 1.3km, the pools look at very different things, and free-child ages differ at every property.
- Seogwipo City Hotels
Six central Seogwipo hotels compared. The waterfall runs 470m to 1.4km and settles nothing — what separates them is that all six handle parking differently.
- Seongsan Hotels
Three Seongsan hotels compared. One sits 760m from Sunrise Peak and two sit 2.4km away, with nothing between. With a car that is five minutes; without one it decides the trip.
- Shinhwa World
Jeju Shinhwa World's four properties share one address, so distance decides nothing. Pick by what each offers: waterpark, three-bedroom units, connecting rooms, service.
29 hotels in this city Each with its district, straight-line distances and its own page. Ordered by guest score.
- Benikea Hotel Jeju
One of only three hotel-type properties on the Aewol coast road, with a pool and triple rooms against a building guests repeatedly call dated.
- Tamna Stay Hotel Jeju
The closest Aewol property to the airport, where reviews split hard between the sea-facing rooms and everything else.
- Tops10 Villa De Aewol
On the Aewol coastal road. One room has two or three bathrooms and several beds, so five people share a single unit. It is a hotel built like a Korean pension.
- Aimi Jeju Beach Hotel Hamdeok W
320m from Hamdeok Beach, 16.4km from the airport — a beachfront address on the east side that still keeps the airport inside half an hour. Watch the occupancy rules.
- Staying by Hamdeok Beach at Ebenezer Hotel Jeju
The hotel sits 30m from Hamdeok Beach with restaurants and cafes around it. It suits a beach stay, not repeated Jeju City commuting.
- When Gloucester Hotel Jeju Works for an Airport Night
A large city hotel 2.3km from the airport with family and ondol room choices. It prioritises arrival and departure logistics over Dongmun walks.
- Hotel RegentMarine The Blue
A 327-room city hotel with Dongmun Market 630m away and a seasonal outdoor pool. Its advantage is the market and waterfront, not the shortest airport transfer.
- Choosing I Jin Hotel Jeju for a Stay in Yeondong
A smaller city hotel for clean bedding, breakfast and Yeondong convenience rather than resort facilities.
- Is LOTTE CITY HOTEL JEJU Right for an Airport Night?
This large city hotel balances a 2.2km airport distance with Yeondong dining and shopping. It is stronger for arrival and departure nights than for Dongmun Market walks.
- Maison Glad Jeju
513 rooms in the middle of Jeju City's Yeon-dong strip. Built for the first and last night of a trip — and in the reviews, satisfaction tracks which wing you land in.
- Ocean Suites Jeju
On the Tap-dong waterfront, one of the few Jeju City addresses where both the market and the sea are a walk. Built in 2010, so expect age — and unusually large rooms.
- What to Expect from Shilla Stay Jeju in Yeondong
Official room details run from 25.2㎡ standard categories to 50.4㎡ grand rooms, with family twin and triple options.
- Hidden Cliff Hotel & Nature
Set 1.3km inland from Jungmun Saekdal Beach. That is why its location score of 8.5 is the lowest of the three Jungmun hotels — and why the view from the pool is different.
- Lotte Hotel Jeju
350m from Jungmun Saekdal Beach, 500 rooms, a children's pool and a bowling alley on site. The recurring caveat in reviews is the age of the rooms.
- Parnas Hotel Jeju
Opened 2022, 307 rooms. The pool is the single most-cited reason for booking in its reviews. The beach, at 770m, is something you look at rather than walk to.
- Haevichi Hotel & Resort Jeju
370m to Pyoseon Beach. The name carries both words for a reason — two buildings share one site, and room size, breakfast format and refurbishment are not the same in each.
- Hotel Bridge Seogwipo
The closest central Seogwipo property to Jeongbang Waterfall and the highest location score in the district, with parking that depends on the room type you book.
- Staying Near Seogwipo Market at Hotel Goldendaisy
A central Seogwipo option with a verified triple room and a strong value case, balanced by late-parking pressure.
- Seogwipo KAL Hotel
The only hotel in central Seogwipo with a confirmed pool, sauna and gym, and the only one that checks out at noon.
- Shinshin Hotel Cheonjiyeon
A bus stop outside the door and a verified single room, set against the sharpest parking complaint in the district.
- Staying in Central Seogwipo at The First70 Hotel
A central Seogwipo hotel with Jeongbang Waterfall 560m away and verified triple and ondol categories.
- Is The Island Blue Hotel Right for a Family or Group?
Its defining feature is official family accommodation for up to six adults near central Seogwipo sights and the market district.
- Co-op City Hotel Seongsan
760m to Seongsan Ilchulbong. It is the only hotel in Seongsan within walking distance of the peak, and the ferry pier for Udo is walkable too.
- Sungsan Marina Hotel
215 rooms, refurbished in 2024. Yet reviews of the same hotel land at both worst and best — the difference is Superior versus Deluxe.
- The Best Jeju Seongsan
Sunrise Peak is 2.4km away, so not walkable. What is here instead: Korean ondol floor-heated rooms, pet-friendly types, and a convenience store and coin laundry downstairs. The outdoor pool opens in summer only.
- Landing Resort
The Shinhwa World wing where connecting rooms recur in reviews, and the largest review sample of the four.
- Shinhwa World Marriott
Highest overall score of the four wings, built on unusually specific accounts of the front desk and concierge.
- Shinhwa Resort
Of four properties sharing a single address, this is the one guests book specifically for the water park and the sky pool.
- Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World
The one apartment-style wing at Shinhwa World, where guests describe three bedrooms and two bathrooms in a single unit.
In Jeju, the first accommodation decision is which part of the island should hold the night. The second, which decides more than most guides admit, is whether you will be driving.
Renting a car in Korea generally requires an International Driving Permit obtained before you travel. If you will not have one, several of the areas below stop working — and that changes the answer entirely.
The eight stay areas
| Area | Hotels | Airport (straight-line) | Best use | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jeju City | 7 | 2.2–3.4km | Airport nights, Dongmun Market, the city grid | Tapdong and Yeondong are different evening bases |
| Aewol | 3 | 9.7–12.8km | The coast road, cafés, the shoreline walk | No landmark to measure from at all |
| Hamdeok | 2 | 16.4–16.7km | Beach time and an east-focused stay | Roughly 15km from the bus terminal |
| Shinhwa World | 4 | 27.7–28.2km | Water park and theme park with children | One complex; a car is needed to leave it |
| Jungmun | 3 | 29.5–30.1km | Pool and resort grounds | Not a workable car-free base |
| Seogwipo City | 6 | 29.7–30.5km | Olle Market and a south-island night | The property data cannot separate the six |
| Pyoseon | 1 | 38.9km | A beach with resort facilities attached | Far east, and far from everything else |
| Seongsan | 3 | 39.8–41.2km | A separate night for Ilchulbong | Walking distance splits, with nothing between |
The airport figure runs from 2.2km to 41.2km — nearly twentyfold across one island, and the listing shows all of it as “Jeju”.
The southern three do not fall in the order people assume. Shinhwa World is closest at 27.7km, then Jungmun at 29.5km, then Seogwipo at 29.7km.
Jeju City — the island’s transport, and the first or last night
Everything on Jeju arrives and leaves through here. All seven properties sit 2–3km from both the airport and the intercity bus terminal, which is why this area is booked for the night you land and the night before you fly.
Within it, the split is between the seafront and market side — Hotel RegentMarine at 630m from Dongmun Market and Ocean Suites at 760m — and the shopping district, where LOTTE CITY HOTEL and Shilla Stay sit.
Only one of the seven has a guest airport shuttle, and check-out splits between 11am and noon. Jeju City hotels sets out both.
Seogwipo City — the south, and the parking question
Six properties, all listing one landmark: Jeongbang Waterfall, at 470m to 1.4km. The property data cannot separate them. What can is the walk to Olle Market, which appears in 19 of 36 guest reviews and on no landmark list, and how parking works — all six handle it differently.
Seogwipo city hotels compares them, including the one property with a confirmed pool and the one with a bus stop at the door.
Shinhwa World — four wings, one address
Four separate properties inside one complex, sharing exactly the same address. No nearby landmarks are listed for any of them and the airport figure varies by 490m across the four, so distance separates nothing.
What separates them is what each wing is attached to — the water park, a three-bedroom apartment, connecting rooms, or the service. Jeju Shinhwa World stays lays that out, including which wing has no pool in its confirmed facilities.
Jungmun — choose the resort itself
Jungmun makes sense when the pool, family programme or resort grounds are part of the trip. It should not be sold as an easy car-free base for the whole island. Jungmun resorts compares them.
Aewol — the coast road, with nothing to measure from
Three properties on the same coastal road west of Jeju City. Agoda returns no nearby landmarks at all here — only the airport, at 9.7–12.8km. So an Aewol stay is not chosen by distance but by where on that road it sits.
And distance runs against the scores. The property furthest from the airport holds the highest location rating at 9.1; the closest holds 8.2. Overall scores span 7.7 to 8.9 — a wide gap for one short stretch of road, and the reviews put it down to building condition. Aewol coast road stays sets out the house numbers, the score spread and the view written into each room name.
Mostly pensions and rented houses; the three hotel-type properties are the exception rather than the rule.
Seongsan — walking distance splits, with nothing between
Three properties, and Seongsan Ilchulbong is either 760m away or 2.4km — there is nothing in between. With a car that is five minutes; without one it decides the trip. The airport runs 39.8–41.2km straight-line from all three, so this is a night added to the east rather than an alternative to Jeju City. Seongsan Sunrise Peak stays compares them, including the pre-dawn drive and the child-age rules.
Pyoseon — a beach with the facilities attached
Haevichi Hotel & Resort Jeju is 370m from Pyoseon Beach and carries the widest free-child range on the island at ages 2–12, with a pool, sauna and kids club. The cost is distance: 38.9km from the airport, on the far side of the east coast.
Hamdeok — make the beach the purpose
Ebenezer Hotel Jeju is listed 30m from Hamdeok Beach and Aimi Jeju Beach Hotel Hamdeok W 320m away. The trade is the distance back to Jeju City, so Hamdeok works when the beach and the east are the itinerary.
If you will not be driving
This narrows the island sharply. Without a car:
- Jeju City works — the bus terminal is 2–3km from every property and the airport is closer still
- Seogwipo City works, with one property reporting a bus stop directly outside and another an airport limousine terminating in its grounds
- Shinhwa World, Jungmun and Aewol do not. Guests at all three describe a car as required to leave the property, and Aewol’s own reviews take a rental as given
- Seongsan, Pyoseon and Hamdeok are possible but long — 40km, 39km and 15km respectively from the city
If the whole trip is car-free, base it in Jeju City or Seogwipo and treat the rest as day trips. Jeju without a car sets out which properties have a shuttle, which have a bus stop at the door, and which one has the airport limousine terminating in its grounds.
Before you book
- Which side of Jeju City — the market and seafront, or the shopping district
- Parking, if you are driving. In Seogwipo it varies property by property and appears only in reviews
- Child age rules, which differ by property. The same four-year-old is free at one and a paying adult at another
- Check-out, which splits between 11am and noon
Distances come from Agoda property and nearby data, with the verification date on each hotel page. They are not converted into fixed drive or bus times. Recheck route, seasonal facilities, breakfast inclusion, child occupancy and the exact room category before booking.
