Where to Stay in Aewol — Same Coast Road, Different Building Age and Views
Three hotels on one Aewol coast road, 9.7–12.8km from the airport, so location barely separates them. Scores run 7.7 to 8.9; building age, views and rooms differ.

Every other area on Jeju hands you something to measure from — a peak, a waterfall, a market, a beach. Aewol does not. It is a stretch of coast road west of Jeju City, and what people come for — the cafés, the shoreline walk, the sunset — has no single address to measure to. Two distances do separate these three properties: the airport and the intercity bus terminal.

Hotels
- Benikea Hotel Jeju
One of only three hotel-type properties on the Aewol coast road, with a pool and triple rooms against a building guests repeatedly call dated.

The closest Aewol property to the airport, where reviews split hard between the sea-facing rooms and everything else.
Jeju International Airport 9.7km · The non-sea side is described as an entirely different outlook

On the Aewol coastal road. One room has two or three bathrooms and several beds, so five people share a single unit. It is a hotel built like a Korean pension.

Three properties, one road
| Property | Aewolhaean-ro | Airport (straight-line) | Bus terminal | Location | Overall | Reviews |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TAMNA STAY HOTEL JEJU | 881 | 9.7km | 11.6km | 8.2 | 8.1 | 2,877 |
| Benikea Hotel Jeju | 554-6 | 12.5km | 14.3km | 8.0 | 7.7 | 6,878 |
| Tops10 Villa De Aewol | 516-7 | 12.8km | 14.6km | 9.1 | 8.9 | 2,629 |
All three carry the same street name. The house numbers run toward Jeju City — number 881 is 9.7km straight-line from the airport, number 516-7 is 12.8km. A 3.1km spread, and it is the only positional difference between them.
Now read the location column against it. The property furthest from the airport scores highest on location, 9.1; the closest scores 8.2. Whatever guests mean by “good location” in Aewol, they do not mean proximity to the airport.
A 1.2-point gap in one small area
7.7 against 8.9 is a wide spread for three properties on the same road, and the reviews put it down to building condition rather than position.
Tops10 Villa De Aewol draws repeated descriptions of bright, wide, well-kept rooms. Benikea Hotel Jeju draws the opposite — an older building with dated fittings, and a recurring complaint about the smell of the carpet, set against equally repeated praise for cleanliness and value. TAMNA STAY HOTEL JEJU sits between the two and is the odd case: “the interior feels upmarket” and “very old and worn” both appear, and one guest notes partial renovation work in progress.
Review volume does not settle it. Benikea has 6,878 reviews, more than the other two combined, and the lowest score of the three.
The room name carries the view, and one warning
The reason to be here is the water, and which way your room faces decides whether you get it.
At TAMNA STAY HOTEL JEJU the verified stayed-in rooms include a standard twin (mountain view) alongside a family triple (partial ocean view) — and one review states plainly that the side facing away from the sea looks onto a cemetery. The view is written into the room name; on a listing page those read as two prices for the same hotel.
Benikea Hotel Jeju sells a family deluxe sea view as a separate category, and guests describe being upgraded to it. Sea view is not the default here.
Above two people, this is effectively one property
| Property | Confirmed room configurations |
|---|---|
| Tops10 Villa De Aewol | Six suite grades · family suite · deluxe family twin |
| Benikea Hotel Jeju | Family twin · family deluxe sea view · family deluxe quad · family triple |
| TAMNA STAY HOTEL JEJU | Family triple |
Guests at Tops10 describe two bedrooms with their own bathrooms plus a bed in the living room, comfortable for five, with three bathrooms in total, and separately a unit with two beds and two bathrooms. Splitting a party across rooms is confirmed at one address here and not the others.
None of the three offers a free-child allowance, and at TAMNA STAY anyone aged 13 or over counts as an adult. Enter real ages and occupancy before comparing, because the headline rate will not reflect a family of four.
All three have a pool, so it decides nothing
What differs is what sits beside it.
- TAMNA STAY HOTEL JEJU — outdoor pool (July and August only) with a gym and buffet dining confirmed
- Benikea Hotel Jeju — pool and restaurant, with breakfast operating; whether it is in your rate depends on the booking
- Tops10 Villa De Aewol — outdoor pool and parking; breakfast is repeatedly described as à la carte rather than buffet
What people actually do here is not in any landmark list
Aewol’s draw has no single address, but three things recur across the reviews of all three properties: a café strip, a shoreline walking path, and restaurants within reach. Guests describe running on the coastal path, a sunset walk along the shore, and sea-view cafés nearby.
This is the same shape as Seogwipo, where the walk to the Olle Market decides the stay and appears on no landmark list — see Seogwipo city hotels.
Assume a car
The bus terminal is 11.6–14.6km away, and guest accounts here take a rental car as given. Renting one in Korea generally requires an International Driving Permit arranged before you fly, so if you will not have one, Aewol is not the base to start from — Jeju without a car sets out which properties have a shuttle and which have a bus stop at the door.
One parking note: TAMNA STAY draws a comment that the car park is small.
When Aewol is the wrong choice
- If you want to walk to a beach, Hamdeok puts the sand 30m and 320m from its two properties
- If short airport transfers matter most, Jeju City runs 2.2–3.4km — Jeju City hotels compares the seven
- If the day should end inside the resort, see Jungmun resorts or Jeju Shinhwa World stays
- If a hotel is not a requirement, Aewol is mostly pensions and whole-house rentals. The three above are the hotel-type properties bookable through the usual channels, which is why the list is short
How this list is put together
- Confirmed distances to Jeju International Airport and the intercity bus terminal
- Position along the single coast road the three share
- Child age rules, which change the total, and room configurations with verified stays behind them
- Building condition, view orientation and parking, all of which surface in reviews rather than in the property listing
Distances come from Agoda property data, with the verification date on each hotel page. This is researched from booking sources rather than written from a stay, and it does not quote rates.
