Where you sleep in Seoul changes the airport run by 15km. Hongdae is 43.1km from Incheon and Jamsil 58.3km — and the railway, not the distance, is what actually decides it.

This is not a list of hotels at the airport. Incheon is on an island roughly 50km west of the city, and none of the properties here are on it. What this page answers is the question underneath that search: on an early flight or a late arrival, which Seoul district costs you least.

Across the nineteen Seoul properties covered here, the run to Incheon spans 43.1km to 58.3km — a 15km difference, entirely determined by which district you booked.

Hongdae and Jamsil are 15km apart on the same trip. For Gimpo the gap is proportionally larger — 10.7km against 27.5km, roughly two and a half times.

But distance is not the deciding number

The airport railway is. Hongdae Station and Seoul Station both sit on the line that runs to Incheon; the southern districts do not, and reaching the airport from them means a transfer or a longer road journey.

That is why L7 Hongdae is described in its own reviews as one train from the airport and 240m from the station on arrival. The distance is 43km; the experience is a single ride with luggage.

Confirm your own route before relying on this — services, express versus all-stop, and first and last departures change, and a 6am flight is a different problem from a 6pm one.

Which district for which flight

  • Early departure or late arrival, travelling light → Hongdae. Shortest to both airports and on the railway. Three properties, all 200–370m from the station
  • Arriving with luggage, or connecting onward by train → Seoul Station. The intercity and high-speed rail terminus is the same building complex, which matters if Busan is also on the itinerary. Four Points by Sheraton Josun Seoul Station is 290m away, and its reviews describe reaching the station underground without going outside — along with train noise, mentioned about as often
  • Sightseeing first, airport second → Myeongdong or Jongno. Middle of the range at 48–50km, and everything central is walkable
  • Jamsil only if Jamsil is the point → Lotte World and the tower are here, but you are paying 58km each way for it

What this does not change

Within a district the airport figure barely moves — Hongdae’s three properties differ by 160m, Jamsil’s by 520m. So the airport is a reason to choose a district, never a reason to choose between hotels inside one.

Before you book

  • Check which airport you are actually using. Gimpo handles domestic and some regional international flights, and the district gap is proportionally wider there
  • Confirm the railway route and first departure for your flight time rather than assuming
  • Ask about luggage storage if your flight is in the evening and check-out is at 11am — several properties here mention holding bags, and it is worth confirming
  • Distances are straight-line property data, not drive or rail times
