Where to Stay in Hongdae — Closest to Both Airports, Furthest from a Quiet Night

200-370m to the station

Mercure Ambassador Seoul Hongdae is 200m out, L7 Hongdae 240m and RYSE, Autograph Collection 370m. Sangsu Station is 710-850m away, so a second line is also walkable.

Daily errands end at the door: convenience stores 30m to 70m, ATMs 90m to 290m — equal to or shorter than Myeongdong’s 130-220m. Reviews here fill up with arrival-day detail: an airport bus stop across the street, the station exit with a lift for luggage, a supermarket on the ground floor.

Bed configuration is what really splits them

Same district, completely different answers by party size.

• Three people who each want a bed: Mercure Ambassador Seoul Hongdae. A Superior Room with three single beds is listed and appears in actual stay records, as does a queen-plus-single layout.
• Four people splitting beds: RYSE, Autograph Collection. Editor and Creator rooms come as one king or two doubles. The catch is that no two-single twin is confirmed.
• L7 Hongdae carries the widest spread of types, including a Standard Triple, a Superior Double Double and a Studio Suite Twin.

Rooms above two people are genuinely scarce in Seoul outside the largest chains. Past two guests, read the stated occupancy of the room type rather than asking about an extra bed.

Children and pets

• L7 Hongdae — free stays listed up to age 11; no extra beds.
• RYSE, Autograph Collection — free stays listed up to age 12, and up to two pets may share the room.
• Mercure Ambassador Seoul Hongdae — free stays up to age 11 on existing bedding, and guests aged 12 and over count as adults, requiring a chargeable extra bed.

All three let primary-school-age children stay free, so child pricing only separates them once a teenager is in the party. With a pet, start from where the conditions are actually confirmed, and check breed, weight and any surcharge at booking.

Time spent inside, and checkout

If a pool matters, L7 Hongdae is the one: an outdoor pool, an executive lounge and a fitness centre. The rooftop pool is seasonal, though — 1 May to 30 September in 2026 — and its later session is adults only, so the pool counts for less on an autumn or winter trip, or with children. RYSE runs to a fitness centre plus restaurant and bar; the Mercure to a bar and lounge and an in-house Chinese restaurant. No pool or sauna is confirmed at either RYSE or the Mercure.

Checkout is 11am at L7 Hongdae and noon at RYSE — an hour that decides whether you make one trip back for bags on a late-flight day.

What Hongdae costs you: palaces, and quiet

Myeongdong shopping street is 5.4-5.6km away and Deoksugung Palace 4.8-5km. Against Myeongdong’s own 240-440m to the same street, that means the palaces and the old city are a subway ride every morning. For a sightseeing-led itinerary, the commute is a daily charge.

This is also a university and live-music district, and people are out late. Guests repeatedly say the rooms stay quiet even when the street does not — but if you want the street itself to be quiet, the fit is wrong. The noise is the point of the neighbourhood.

Which district to weigh it against

• Myeongdong is the walking base, but the airport train does not stop there, so a transfer is added: how the Myeongdong hotels compare on walking distance and child pricing.
