Where to Stay Around Sinnonhyeon — For Trips That Stay South of the River

120-450m to the station — and one of them climbs

Ocloud Hotel Gangnam is closest at 120m, Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam 400m and Dormy Inn Seoul Gangnam 450m. The latter two also sit 430-490m from Eonju Station, giving two lines on foot, while Ocloud reaches Gangnam Station at 740m.

Metres do not tell the whole story here. Reviews of the Novotel repeatedly describe the hotel sitting at the top of a slope, with one guest putting the walk at about eight minutes. Reviews of Ocloud describe two to three minutes with suitcases and no difficulty. On arrival day that difference outweighs the 400m.

One shared figure captures the district. The nearest convenience store registers between 1km and 1.3km from every address here. This is a boulevard business district, not a neighbourhood of dense shopfronts. The station complex covers it in practice, but it is worth knowing before a late errand.

Free-child age caps run from 6 to 15

This is the single biggest lever on the total in this area.

• Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam — free stays listed up to age 15, unusually wide for Seoul, though breakfast for ages 4 to 12 is 23,000 KRW a day on top.
• Ocloud Hotel Gangnam — free stays listed for ages 0 to 11.
• Dormy Inn Seoul Gangnam — free stays listed for children aged 6 and under.

With a teenager in the party, the answer is close to decided. But a free-stay band and an occupancy limit are separate rules: the Novotel’s confirmed rooms are 26-28 sqm and configured for two, so check the bed layout before assuming four will fit.

Where a third person actually fits

Ocloud Hotel Gangnam lists a Family Twin and a Family Suite, and the Family Twin appears in actual stay records. By contrast, Dormy Inn Seoul Gangnam shows single, double, twin and queen layouts, and Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam lists Superior, Deluxe and Executive rooms all configured for two — on confirmed types alone, neither has a place to put a third person.

Rooms for three are genuinely scarce in Seoul outside the largest chains. Above two people, look at the room type’s stated occupancy rather than asking whether an extra bed is possible.

How much time you can spend inside

• The Novotel has an indoor pool, a spa, a kids club and an executive lounge, which makes half a day indoors realistic. It was built in 1993, and comments about its age appear in reviews.
• Dormy Inn is a three-star built around its spa and sauna and its breakfast — depth in one or two things rather than breadth.
• Ocloud runs to a 24-hour fitness centre and a restaurant, but guests repeatedly mention a microwave and fridge in the room, which matters more on a stay of several nights.

Times differ too. Ocloud is the most generous at 2pm check-in and noon checkout; the Novotel is 3pm and noon; Dormy Inn is 3pm and 11am.

What Gangnam costs you: the airport and the old city

Gimpo Airport is 20.8-21.2km away and Incheon 50.9-51.4km (both straight-line). Hongdae sits at 10.7-10.8km from Gimpo — roughly half — and the airport train does not reach this district either. Quoted average transfer times here run from 90 to 130 minutes.

The old city is as far as the numbers suggest: 7.6-7.7km to Myeongdong shopping street, 2.7-3.2km to Bongeunsa Temple, 4.5-4.8km to the National Museum of Korea. For a palace-led trip, sleep north of the river and treat Gangnam as a day out.
