Where to Stay in Jamsil — Closest to Lotte World, Furthest From Incheon

Facts checked: 2026-08-10

Jamsil works when the trip stays in Jamsil, around Lotte World and its mall. Three hotels compared on child rates and occupancy; the catch is Seoul's longest airport run.

Jamsil works when the trip stays in Jamsil. Lotte World is 170–750m from the three hotels below, all three sit beside Lotte World Mall, and Jamsil Station is 240–510m away. What you give up is distance to everything else: Incheon is 57.7–58.3km out (straight-line), further than any other Seoul area on this site, and there is no airport train here — you change at Seoul Station.

So the question is not which hotel. It is whether your days start and end in Jamsil. If they do, this is the shortest day in Seoul. If you are heading to the palaces every morning, book on the north side and come here for one day instead.

Hotels

  • LOTTE HOTEL WORLD

170m to Lotte World, 250m to Jamsil Station, and several room types that genuinely sleep three or more — rare in Seoul. The catch is that children do not stay free.

  • Signiel Seoul

Inside Lotte World Tower, 240m from Jamsil Station, with the highest location and couple scores in the district. The catch: no room type sleeping three, and a pool reviewers call small.

  • Sofitel Ambassador Seoul

Built in 2021 beside Seokchon Lake, with free stays for children aged 3 to 11 and a children's pool. The trade-off is 510m to the station and bathtubs that depend on the room type.

The Lotte World walk is the entire argument

The three properties sit at different distances from the park: LOTTE HOTEL WORLD at 170m, Signiel Seoul at 460m, and Sofitel Ambassador Seoul at 750m. Signiel is inside Lotte World Tower itself.

The station numbers follow the same order — 250m, 240m and 510m to Jamsil Station, which is an interchange. Reviews for the two closest properties describe moving between hotel, mall and park underground without going outside, which matters more than the metres in July or January.

One quirk worth knowing: the nearest convenience store recorded for Signiel is 2.6km away. The mall absorbs that function here, but it also tells you what this area is — a single indoor complex rather than a street you wander.

What it costs you — the airport, and the rest of Seoul

Jamsil is the far corner. Incheon is 57.7km from LOTTE HOTEL WORLD, 57.9km from Signiel and 58.3km from the Sofitel. From the Seoul Station hotels it is 47.4–47.8km, and from Hongdae 43.2km. Gimpo shows the same pattern: 27.1–27.5km here against 15.1–15.4km near Seoul Station and 10.7km from Hongdae.

There is no direct airport rail link. The route runs airport train to Seoul Station, then Line 2 to Jamsil — one change with luggage, in the busiest station in the country.

The city-centre gap shows up in the data in an unusual way. Every hotel we cover north of the river lists a distance to Myeongdong shopping street — 260m from Lotte Hotel Seoul, 440m from L7 Myeongdong, 1–1.7km from the Seoul Station three, 2.2km from The Shilla. None of the three Jamsil properties lists Myeongdong at all. What appears instead is COEX, at 3.6–4.1km. The reference points change because the neighbourhood does.

How Jamsil splits from Myeongdong and Seoul Station

  • Myeongdong is the walking base: shops, palaces and the old centre within a short radius, with Myeongdong street 260–440m from the two hotels there.
  • Seoul Station is the transit base: the airport train and KTX leave from one building, and Four Points by Sheraton Josun is 290m from it. See where to stay near Seoul Station for that comparison.
  • Jamsil is neither. It is a self-contained cluster — park, tower, mall and Seokchon Lake — where the point is not leaving.

Pick Jamsil for a stay built around the property and the park. Pick the north side if the itinerary is spread across the city, and treat Jamsil as a day trip on Line 2.

The three are not interchangeable

Same district, three different answers — and the sharpest split is the child rule.

  • Children aged 3 to 11 stay free at Signiel Seoul and at the Sofitel. They do not at LOTTE HOTEL WORLD, where extra charges apply. That is counter-intuitive, because LOTTE HOTEL WORLD is the one attached to the theme park.
  • Three or more in one room — LOTTE HOTEL WORLD lists a Deluxe Triple, a junior suite family triple and themed family twins (Kakao Friends, Lotty & Lorry). The Sofitel lists bed mixes explicitly: king plus single, king plus sofa bed, king plus two singles, and residence studios. Signiel lists no room type for three or more — it is a two-person hotel with 235 rooms.
  • How new the building is — Signiel opened in 2017, the Sofitel was built in 2021 with 563 rooms, and LOTTE HOTEL WORLD dates from 1988 with a 2021 renovation across 477 rooms. Reviews of the last one repeatedly mention low ceilings and a dated pool.
  • The station walk — 240m and 250m for the two on the tower side, 510m for the Sofitel. With luggage that difference is real; in exchange the Sofitel is the one with a children’s pool and a kids club.
  • Guest scores — Signiel 9.2 overall and 9.6 on location across 7,576 reviews; the Sofitel 9.1 and 9.6 across 5,397; LOTTE HOTEL WORLD 9.0 and 9.4 across 11,348.

How properties get onto this list

  • Verified distances to Lotte World, Jamsil Station and both airports
  • Occupancy by room type, and the child-age rules that change the total
  • Building and renovation years, since three of Seoul’s price tiers meet in one block here
  • Drawbacks that recur across guest reviews, not one-off complaints

Distances come from Agoda property data and the verification date is on each hotel page. This is research compiled before booking, not a first-hand stay report — we have not stayed at these properties, and nothing here is a rate quote.
