Where to Stay in Myeongdong — Everything Is Walkable, So the Child Policy Decides

240-440m to the street — the baseline

Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Seoul Myeongdong is 240m out, The Grand Lotte Seoul 250m and L7 Myeongdong 440m. Measure to the shopping district instead and the order flips once: 150m, 420m and 320m. A couple of hundred metres either way is not a decision.

The rest of the walk matches. The Namsan cable car ranges from 600m to 1km, Cheonggyecheon stream from 470m to 1.1km, Changgyeonggung Palace from 2.1km to 2.2km. Convenience stores run 130m to 220m. On foot, these places substitute for each other.

What does decide it, 1: how children are counted

This moves the total more than anything else here, and the rules are not the same from one door to the next.

• The Grand Lotte Seoul lists free stays for children aged 2 to 12.
• Solaria Nishitetsu lists 2 to 6 free, and counts guests aged 7 and over as adults, needing a chargeable extra bed.
• L7 Myeongdong offers no free child stays at all; extra charges may apply.

One primary-school child is enough to reorder the list. Compare totals from a search with your actual party size, not headline rates.

What does decide it, 2: which station you use

• Myeongdong Station is 110m from L7 Myeongdong and 170m from Solaria Nishitetsu.
• Euljiro 1-ga Station is 190m from The Grand Lotte Seoul and 470m from Solaria Nishitetsu.
• The Grand Lotte Seoul also has Jonggak Station 580m away.

Different exits mean different lines out. Check which line serves the places you have actually named before you pick the address; Solaria sits where both stations are walkable.

What does decide it, 3: three people, and checkout

For three in one room, Solaria Nishitetsu is the clearest: Standard Triple and Premium Triple are sold as separate types, with a Family Twin listed as well. The Grand Lotte Seoul has a Main Tower Superior Suite Family Twin, and L7 Myeongdong shows a Superior Family Twin in actual stay records.

Checkout is 11am at The Grand Lotte Seoul and L7 Myeongdong, and noon at Solaria Nishitetsu. On a late-flight day that hour is the difference between one trip back for bags and none.

What Myeongdong costs you: the airport

The walkable district is bought with airport time. Gimpo is 15.9-16.4km away and Incheon 48.5-48.9km (both straight-line). Compare Hongdae at 10.7-10.8km and 43.1-43.2km and the gap is plain.

The airport train also does not stop in Myeongdong. Arriving from Incheon means changing at Seoul Station or Hongik University Station, and with luggage that transfer is the part you feel. Guests do mention an airport limousine stop within walking distance, so the bus is a genuine alternative worth checking.

One more condition attached to a shopping district: reviews of Solaria repeatedly note that pedestrian traffic keeps taxis from reaching the entrance. With large cases, plan the last hundred metres.

Which district to weigh it against

• Seoul Station is the timetable choice — airport train and KTX from one building, weak evenings. The ranking there inverts the moment you walk anywhere else, which is worked through in how the Seoul Station hotels rank in reverse once you walk anywhere else.

• Verified distances to the shopping street, the shopping district and the nearest station
• The free-child age band and the age at which a guest is billed as an adult
