Where to Stay in Phu Quoc — One Walkable Town and Four Drives
Every listing says “Phu Quoc”, but the five stay areas suit different trips: one town where dinner is on foot, and four where most evenings out start with a drive.

- Where to Stay in Duong Dong
Duong Dong is the only part of Phu Quoc you can walk out of at night. Three properties sit 230m, 720m and 880m from the night market, and differ on beach, pool and building age.
- Northern Phu Quoc
Five resorts in northern Phu Quoc compared. Distance to the VinWonders aquarium runs from 750m to 2.1km — but the order of distance and the order of convenience do not match.
- Where to Stay on Southern Long Beach
Southern Long Beach is the closest area to Phu Quoc airport and the least walkable. Three resorts compared on airport distance, build year and child occupancy rules.
14 hotels in this city Each with its district, straight-line distances and its own page. Ordered by guest score.
- An Phu Hotel
Almost every Phu Quoc property is a resort with a pool and a strip of sand. This one is neither — it is a 68-room town hotel where the night market, an ATM and a hospital are all within 720m.
- Saigon Phu Quoc Resort
Long Beach is 60m away and the night market 880m. On this island that combination is rare — the price of it is a property built in 1999 and last renovated in 2024.
- Seashells Phu Quoc
230m to the night market, 120m to Duong Dong market. On an island where almost every hotel needs a car for dinner, this one does not — but the beach in front is short.
- JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay
The closest of these five to the cable car, and the highest-rated for service. It also faces south-east, so the sun does not set over the water here.
- New World Phu Quoc
Khem Beach is 10m away and the cable car 2.8km. Every unit is a standalone villa with its own pool, which changes the arithmetic once your group passes six people.
- Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay
1.9km to the VinWonders aquarium, 1.9km to Bung Bau Beach. A private beach, a kids' programme and a games room are all on site, and 88% of guests who mentioned the pool were positive.
- Melia Vinpearl Phu Quoc
Every unit is a private-pool villa — one to four bedrooms, with a living room and a kitchen. Three generations can travel together without splitting across rooms.
- Sheraton Phu Quoc Long Beach
The name puts it on Long Beach. The coordinates put it 27km away at the northern tip, 750m from the VinWonders aquarium and 25.3km from the airport.
- Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phu Quoc
Inside the northern complex, with a free shuttle linking the parks. If the parks are the trip, nothing shortens the day more — but the airport is 25.3km away.
- Wyndham Garden GrandWorld
1.3km to the VinWonders aquarium. But you book this for the shuttle, not the distance — the terminus is right outside, so you get a seat going out and simply stay on coming back.
- Camia Resort & Spa
Fifty-five rooms on a quiet stretch of coast, 6.2km from the market and 1.3km from the nearest shop. Everything depends on whether you intended to leave.
- InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach
The shortest airport transfer of the five areas, and ocean-view residences with two or three bedrooms. What you give up is the ability to walk anywhere at all.
- Novotel Phu Quoc
It sits in the southern resort belt but has a night market at the gate — and children stay free up to 15, which is the widest band of any Phu Quoc property covered here.
- Pullman Phu Quoc
Opened in 2020, it is the newest of the three southern-belt resorts, and service scores higher than the hotel overall. The catch is that there is effectively nowhere to walk to.
The whole island is one administrative unit, so every property is labelled simply “Phu Quoc”. That label hides a lot. The airport is 4.5km straight-line from one of the areas below and 25.3km from another — a five-fold spread that no filter on a booking site will show you.
Choosing an area here comes down to two questions: can you walk out to dinner, and how far are you willing to drive during the day?
Duong Dong — the only stretch you can walk out of
Duong Dong sits midway down the west coast, and its market, night market, restaurants and massage shops are packed into a few blocks. Measured from Seashells Phu Quoc, the night market is 230m away, Duong Dong Market 120m and the Cao Dai Temple 250m. If your evenings involve walking out and wandering back, no other area competes.
The walkable radius still splits three ways. Saigon Phu Quoc Resort & Spa pairs 60m of sand with 880m of street, while An Phu Hotel is a 68-room town hotel with no pool and no beach at all. The three are set side by side on market distance, beach frontage and build year in Where to Stay in Duong Dong.
The cost is daytime. Almost everything worth visiting sits outside town: the cable car in the far south and the theme park complex in the north are both a 30-minute-plus drive.
Southern Long Beach — the resort belt, closest to the airport
South of town the coast turns into a continuous run of resorts. This is the closest area to the airport, running Novotel Phu Quoc Resort at 4.5km, Pullman Phu Quoc Beach Resort at 5.1km and InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach at 5.9km — which buys time on arrival and departure days.
Short distance does not automatically mean short time. The southern corridor has road works, so quoted transfer times can drift. Treat any single figure as approximate and build in slack.
There is almost no walkable strip along this belt, with one exception. Reviews of Novotel repeatedly describe a night market and supermarket directly outside the gate, while reviews of Pullman note there is no convenience store nearby. How the three differ on airport distance, cable car distance, street life and child occupancy is set out in Where to Stay on Southern Long Beach.
Ong Lang — the quiet middle
North of town, the coast turns quiet. From Camia Resort & Spa it is 6.2km to Duong Dong Market, 1.3km to the nearest convenience store and 13.4km to the airport. It sits between the town and the northern parks without being extreme in either direction — provided you accept that there is nothing outside the resort gate.
The north — inside the theme park complex
The northern tip is one large development where the theme park, safari and aquarium sit together. Five properties are covered here, and lined up by distance to the VinWonders aquarium they run from 750m to 2.1km.
But that order is not the order of convenience. The closest, Sheraton Phu Quoc Long Beach at 750m, scores 8.3 on location; Wyndham Garden GrandWorld at 1.3km scores 9.1, the highest here — because the park shuttle terminates at its door. Crowne Plaza Starbay is closer still at 1.9km, and its reviews say the parks need a Grab.
How you cross the distance matters more than the distance, which is set out property by property in Northern Phu Quoc resorts — along with child policies that differ at every one of them.
One name points to the wrong end of the island. The Sheraton is not on Long Beach; it sits up here, 25.3km from the airport, with three- and four-bedroom pool villas for larger groups.
The trade is the transfer: the airport runs 23.0–26.6km from this area, the longest on the island. Adding the town night market or the southern cable car means crossing it each time.
Khem Beach — resort-only, closest to the cable car
On the south-east coast, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay is 480m from Khem Beach, 2.4km from the Hon Thom cable car station and 2.2km from Sao Beach. If the cable car and the southern islands are the plan, this is the shortest hop to them. On the same shoreline, New World Phu Quoc Resort sits 10m from the sand and is entirely standalone pool villas, which changes the arithmetic for groups of six or more.
One thing worth knowing before you book a “beachfront” room here: Khem Beach faces south-east, so the sun does not set over the water. If sunsets are part of what you are paying for, the west coast — Duong Dong, Long Beach, Ong Lang — is where they happen. There is no walkable strip here either.
Sunset Town (An Thoi) — outside this comparison
Sunset Town at the southern tip has a cable car station and a pedestrian bridge within walking distance of its hotels, but no stays there are included in this comparison. We have not checked its hotels, so we do not recommend the area.
How this list is chosen
- Real distance to the airport, and how much that distance moves in time terms
- Whether anything is within walking distance — evenings split on this alone
- What is solved inside the resort versus what requires leaving it
- Which room types genuinely sleep three or more
- Points that recur in guest reviews rather than in marketing copy
Before you book
The southern corridor between the airport and the cable car has active road works. Published transfer times can be out of date, so leave slack if your schedule is tight, and avoid planning around completion dates or transport links that are not yet running.
Beach orientation is worth checking too. The west coast faces the sunset; Khem Beach on the south-east does not. “Beachfront” describes the sand, not the evening view.
