Location & getting around — the deepest of the northern properties

The resort is at Bai Dai in Ganh Dau, northern Phu Quoc. The VinWonders aquarium is 2.1km away and Phu Quoc International Airport 26.6km straight-line.

26.6km is the longest airport run of the five northern properties — 3.6km more than the closest, Crowne Plaza Starbay at 23.0km — and it lands on both your arrival and departure days. Its location rating of 8.3 is also the lowest in the north.

The shuttle compensates. Reviews report it running every 30 minutes in the morning and hourly in the afternoon to the Vinpearl parks, and mention the Vin Bus making onward travel straightforward.

Airport transfers need arranging. Reviews note pickup and drop-off must be set up directly with the resort by email or phone — one guest, uncomfortable in English, did it by email; another was collected in a six-seater as the only passenger that day. It is available, not automatic.

One review notes currency exchange was only available around 5–6pm.

Reception

Rooms & occupancy — you choose a house, not a room

Built in 2017 and renovated in 2023. Check-in is 3pm and check-out is noon. The average stay is listed as three nights — the longest in the north.

Every listed type is a villa: one-bedroom Lake View (private pool), two- and three-bedroom Lake View (private pool), three-bedroom Garden View (private pool), The Level three-bedroom Ocean View Private Pool Villa, and a four-bedroom villa.

The living room and the kitchen

This is what the reviews keep returning to. A villa of over 650 square metres with its own pool. A detached house with a private pool, several bedrooms and — named specifically — a living room and kitchen, so those sleeping and those already up could both be comfortable.

That condition does real work on a multi-generation trip. Adults and children keep different hours, and somebody is always awake early or up late; split across two or three rooms, they cross the resort to find each other. Here it happens inside one house.

Read the view label

Lake view, garden view and ocean view are separate. One review describes being upgraded to a three-bedroom lake view and finding the open water and sky spectacular even without the sea. Put the other way: if the sea is the point, confirm an ocean-view label.

Another guest asked for a villa within walking distance of the main pool and was placed accordingly — a request worth making on a resort this large.

Facilities — room service that beat the restaurants

The facility list covers a pool, gardens, restaurants, a spa, an executive lounge, a kids’ club, a gym and the beach.

What reviews name specifically:

  • Room service — one family, focused on swimming, ordered dinner in most nights and found the menu more varied than the restaurants, so everyone ate what they wanted. It pairs naturally with the villa format
  • Breakfast — consistently well reviewed, with several restaurants and a range of cuisines
  • The main pool and the beach — described simply as good places to spend the day

One review is worth passing on in full. A guest’s child developed acute gastroenteritis with a high fever; the resort drove them to hospital and they were able to fly home safely. That does not appear on any facility list.

Overall the resort scores 8.6 with a location rating of 8.3 across 3,243 reviews. By segment it is 8.5 from business travellers and 8.6 from families with young children.

Best for

  • Three generations, or two families sharing one villa
  • Longer stays using the kitchen — the average here is three nights
  • Reaching VinWonders and the safari by resort shuttle

Not ideal if

  • Two of you on a short trip — the format is more than you need
  • You want to cut airport transfers — 26.6km is the longest in the north
  • Duong Dong town and the night market are the draw

Nothing else in the north is entirely villas. So the real comparison is not with its neighbours but with your party size — two people on a short trip get better value from a hotel room; two families sharing one house get something the others cannot offer.

For daily theme-park trips, Wyndham Garden GrandWorld has the shuttle terminus at its door. For days spent on the resort, Crowne Plaza Starbay pairs a private beach with a kids’ programme at 9.1 overall.

For a pool villa further south, New World Phu Quoc Resort is all detached pool villas near Khem Beach. Area-by-area conditions are in Where to Stay in Phu Quoc.

Restaurant

Bottom line — party size decides this one

What sets the value here is not the position but the party. The airport is the furthest in the north at 26.6km and the location rating the lowest at 8.3. Against that, every unit is a private-pool villa from one to four bedrooms with a living room and kitchen — for three generations, or two families in one house, nothing else in northern Phu Quoc does this. The three-night average stay follows from it.

For two people over two or three nights it is more than you need, and a hotel room in the same area both costs less and, at Crowne Plaza or Wyndham, shortens the airport run by about 3km.

Check two things before booking: the view label (lake, garden and ocean are separate) and arranging the airport transfer with the resort in advance.

FAQ

Is every unit really a pool villa?

Every listed type is a villa: a one-bedroom Lake View Villa with private pool, two- and three-bedroom Lake View Villas with private pool, a three-bedroom Garden View Villa with private pool, The Level three-bedroom Ocean View Private Pool Villa, and a four-bedroom villa. Reviews describe a villa of over 650 square metres with its own pool, and a detached house with a private pool, several bedrooms and — specifically — a living room and kitchen that let people keeping different hours rest comfortably. Note the view labels split into lake, garden and ocean, so read the name if the sea is the point.

How do you reach VinWonders and the safari?

There is a resort shuttle. Reviews report it running every 30 minutes in the morning and hourly in the afternoon to the Vinpearl parks — the safari, VinWonders and others — and mention the Vin Bus making onward travel easy. The VinWonders aquarium is 2.1km away. Frequencies change by season, so confirm when you book.

How does airport transfer work?

It is available, but you arrange it yourself. Reviews note that pickup and drop-off must be set up directly with the resort by email or phone — one guest, uncomfortable in English, did it by email. Another mentions the airport bus departing at different times each day, and being collected in a six-seater when they were the only passenger. The airport is 26.6km away, the longest transfer of the five northern properties.
