Where to Stay in Duong Dong — The Only Walkable Corner of Phu Quoc

All three score higher on location than overall

This is the clearest signal of what the area is for. On Agoda’s breakdown, Seashells rates 9.5 for location against 9.0 overall, An Phu 9.0 against 8.8, and Saigon Phu Quoc Resort 9.0 against 8.4. Location is the strongest component at all three — which is another way of saying this is not an area you pick for facilities or fit-out.

Airport distance will not help you choose. All three sit between 6.4km and 7.1km straight-line, a spread of 700 metres.

Do not trust the “Duong Dong” label on a booking site

The three properties here are 230m, 720m and 880m from the night market — all inside a kilometre. Other properties carrying the same “Duong Dong” label sit 1.9km to 2.6km away, strung south along Tran Hung Dao. Those are beachfront addresses, but they are not walking distance to the market in any useful sense.

That is a spread of more than ten times inside one label. Booking on the label alone and expecting to walk to dinner is how an itinerary goes wrong, which is why this list stops at a kilometre.

What actually separates the three

Inside the same walking radius, the trade is beach frontage versus facilities versus building age.

• Closest to the market — Seashells Phu Quoc is 230m from the night market and 120m from Duong Dong Market, with 246 rooms, a private beach, a pool and a kids club, so daytime works on the property too. Reviews consistently flag a short, shell-strewn beach and a single main pool.
• Sand and street together — Saigon Phu Quoc Resort & Spa is 60m from Long Beach and 880m from the market, with the grounds running onto the sand and a 79sqm two-bedroom sea-view suite, the largest room in the area. The cost is age: built 1999, renovated 2024, with reviews describing rocks on the shoreline.
• A room to sleep in, nothing more — An Phu Hotel has no pool and no beach at all, just 68 rooms in town. In exchange it has an ATM at 210m and a hospital at 130m, and reviews repeatedly describe the 27–35sqm rooms as unusually large. The beach is 920m away.

Occupancy and children’s ages split the three

The rules differ more than the rates do. Seashells keeps children free only to age 5 and charges 280,000 VND a night for ages 6 to 11, An Phu keeps them free to 11, and Saigon Phu Quoc Resort offers no free child stay at all. At all three, anyone aged 12 or over counts as an adult for extra bedding.

For three or more people sharing, the realistic options are Seashells’ 65sqm two-bedroom suite and 66sqm two-bedroom family room, Saigon’s 79sqm two-bedroom sea-view suite, and An Phu’s 35sqm Superior Family and 30sqm Superior Triple. That is a spread of more than double in floor area, so for larger groups this is the fastest way to narrow the list.

When Duong Dong is the wrong answer

First, if your days end inside a resort, you are paying for a radius you will not use. Grounds and facility density are clearly larger in the southern Long Beach belt.

Second, if the northern theme parks or the southern cable car anchor the trip, every day crosses the island. From Duong Dong, both the VinWonders complex in the north and the Hon Thom cable car in the south are 30 minutes or more by car.

Third, if you need quiet at night, distance from the market cuts the other way. Reviews describe the blocks around the night market as noisy after dark, and describe An Phu’s street, set further back, as calm.
