Location & getting around — beside the Vinpearl complex, far from everything else

The resort is in the Bai Dai area of northern Phu Quoc. The VinWonders aquarium is 1.9km away, Bung Bau Beach 1.9km and Phu Quoc International Airport 23.0km straight-line.

Staying in the north means staying beside the Vinpearl complex. VinWonders, Vinpearl Safari and GrandWorld are all in this area, and Duong Dong town and its night market are correspondingly far. That is the trade the area asks you to make.

Do not plan around the shuttle. Reviews note that the free shuttle to GrandWorld and the airport does not run often, and that VinWonders and the safari need a Grab — with the caveat that neither is far. If the parks are a daily plan, factor that in. A free airport pickup comes up in several reviews.

The supply run is the thing to know. There is no shop within walking distance; reviews describe the small lobby store as expensive and advise buying beer and snacks on the way back from an outing.

Rooms & occupancy — 308 rooms, opened 2021

A five-star property with 308 rooms, opened in 2021. Check-in is 3pm and check-out is noon. Listed types are Premium Oceanfront and Premium Ocean View (king and twin), Standard Ocean View Twin, Junior Suite, a one-bedroom villa, a one-bedroom Oceanfront Suite and a two-bedroom suite.

View labels are unusually granular — oceanfront and ocean view are separate, and even the Standard carries an ocean view. Reviews describe a Standard room as very spacious, and one guest who booked what they took for a jungle view found the sea fully visible. Treat the second as how a room was allocated, not as something you can book.

Ages 3–11 are listed free. For a larger party, a one-bedroom villa and a two-bedroom suite mean you may not need to split across rooms.

Facilities — the day is meant to end here

What the reviews keep returning to is that there is no reason to leave.

  • The private beach — described as safe, with clean water and sand fine enough that it does not hurt to walk on. A guard at the entrance and patrols along the pool and sand come up too
  • The pool — overlooking the sea, with an easy route for children, and warm enough for them. 88.0% of guests who mentioned it were positive
  • The kids’ programme and games room — staff running activities that let parents rest, a kids’ café, a games room, plus archery, golf and ball games
  • Breakfast — the pho and the bakery both draw specific praise, and coffee is brought to your table

An executive lounge, spa, gym, poolside bar and free parking are also listed.

The complaints are specific too. No beach-bar service for cocktails at the pool or on the sand. One on-site restaurant whose food did not land, from a guest who liked the breakfast. And a review from a week-long stay with a two-year-old that puts it plainly: the location is remote and there is little beyond the theme parks — but the pool and kids’ room filled the days even when it rained.

Overall the resort scores 9.1, the highest in northern Phu Quoc, with a location rating of 8.7 across 6,376 reviews. Staff are listed as speaking five languages.

Best for

  • Several days on the resort with children
  • A trip where VinWonders and the safari are one or two days, not every day
  • Swimming and a private beach as the point of the stay

Not ideal if

  • You want shops within walking distance — there are none
  • You plan to visit the theme parks daily — the shuttle is infrequent
  • Duong Dong night market or town restaurants are the draw

Compared & alternatives — the north sorts by distance to the Vinpearl complex

People stay in the north for the Vinpearl complex, so that is the anchor.

ResortTo VinWonders aquariumOverallWhat it is
Sheraton Phu Quoc Long Beach750m—Closest to the complex
Vinpearl Resort & Spa860m—Inside Vinpearl’s own estate

Crowne Plaza Starbay1,940m9.1Private beach, kids’ programme
Melia Vinpearl Phu Quoc2,070m8.6Every unit a private-pool villa

Visiting the parks daily points to Wyndham, where the VinWonders shuttle terminates at the door so you always get a seat. Spending the days on the resort points here, and a 9.1 overall with 88% on the pool backs that.

For a villa with a kitchen and living room, Melia Vinpearl Phu Quoc is entirely private-pool villas. For town and the night market, the north is the wrong area — Seashells Phu Quoc is 230m from the night market.

Restaurant

Bottom line — built so you need not leave, which makes leaving awkward

The design intent is clear. A private beach, a pool 88% of guests liked, a kids’ programme and games room, and a breakfast that reviews single out — everything a few days with children needs is inside the gates. The building is four years old and a 9.1 overall sits on top of that.

What it costs is the trip out. No shop within walking distance, an infrequent shuttle, and a Grab to the theme parks. If you meant to use the resort as a base and go out daily, this is the wrong fit.

Buy the beer and the snacks on the way back in. The reviews say it more than once.

FAQ

Is it easy to reach VinWonders or the safari?

They are close, but do not plan around the shuttle. Reviews note a free shuttle to GrandWorld and the airport that does not run often, and say VinWonders and Vinpearl Safari need a Grab — while adding that neither is far. The VinWonders aquarium is 1.9km away. If you intend to visit the parks daily, Wyndham Garden GrandWorld has the VinWonders shuttle terminus at its door.

Does it work with children?

This is what its reviews are mostly about. Ages 3–11 are listed free, and guests describe a kids' programme with staff that let both children and parents rest, a kids' café and a games room, and activities including archery, golf and ball games. The private beach draws comments about safety — a guard at the entrance and patrols along the pool and sand. 88.0% of guests who mentioned the pool were positive.

What about food and supplies?

Breakfast reviews well — the pho is described as better than anywhere else on the trip, the bakery gets its own mentions, and coffee is brought to the table. But there is no shop within walking distance. Reviews describe a small lobby store as expensive and advise buying beer and snacks on the way back from an outing. One review notes there is no beach-bar service at the pool or on the sand.
