Hotels Near Tan Son Nhat: What Differs Is How You Get There
Two hotels sit much the same distance from Tan Son Nhat. What differs is how you cross: one runs a free shuttle you request ahead, from the other you walk.

Long-haul flights into Ho Chi Minh City land late and leave early. Book District 1 and you are covering 6.4–6.9km, 26–29 minutes by road, at exactly those hours — one in the morning on arrival, three in the morning on departure.
That is the reason to slot one night into the airport area. And in Ho Chi Minh City, only two properties sit there.

Hotels
- ibis Saigon Airport
980m from Tan Son Nhat, seven minutes by road. You book this for the shuttle, not the distance — but the property asks you to arrange it in advance and publishes no timetable.

980m and 1,190m — the 210m is not the point
| Hotel | To the airport | Location | Overall | Reviews |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ibis Saigon Airport | 980m | 9.2 | 8.6 | 7,322 |
| Yoko Airport Saigon | 1,190m | 8.6 | 7.9 | 2,629 |
You do not choose between these on 210m. Both are beside the airport. What actually differs is how you cover that ground at 3am.
Shuttle, or walk
ibis — a free shuttle, but you have to ask for it
- There is a free airport shuttle. The property states it requires advance booking and publishes no timetable. The booking-screen room name frames the free round-trip transfer the same way — on request, to the international terminal
- So sending your flight number at booking is the point. Several reviews describe staff waiting at the arrivals exit. One review mentions a 30-minute interval; the property does not confirm it
- One guest reports being in the room 20 minutes after leaving the terminal
- At a 3am check-out, the front desk called a metered taxi that arrived immediately
With heavy bags or children, this is the one. There is 24-hour room service, and a café with a convenience store beside it on the ground floor.
Yoko — a 10–15 minute walk
A shuttle has a timetable. Walking does not.
Reviews describe reaching international departures on foot in about 15 minutes, and roughly 10 minutes coming the other way. One guest who stays three or four times a year notes that for late-night and early-morning flights you can walk or take a Grab without difficulty. Another reports checking in after 1am with no problem.
Travelling light, alone or as a pair, this beats waiting for someone else’s schedule on a 4am departure. Airport transfers can also be booked before check-in.
Check one thing first — the domestic terminal
Two reviews mention being told the shuttle does not serve the new domestic terminal (T3).
That covers a common itinerary: arrive internationally, connect onto a domestic flight the next morning — Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Nha Trang. If that is your plan, confirm which terminals the shuttle reaches when you book.
If you have a whole day to fill
Long connections happen. Then what is inside the building decides it.
ibis Saigon Airport has a pool, gym and sauna on the top floor, and what reviews return to is the view — you can watch aircraft taking off and landing from the pool. It is a rare case of “next to an airport” being the attraction rather than the compromise. Breakfast is buffet and continental with eggs and pho cooked to order. Ages 0–11 stay free, and the family room pairs a queen with a bunk bed so four people fit in one room.
Yoko Airport Saigon shows no facilities in the property data. It is not a hotel you pick for breakfast or a pool, and its reviews treat it as somewhere to sleep — or to store bags and shower during a long connection. What it does have nearby: a convenience store at 220m with several more around, and, per one review, Vietnamese food cheaper and better than around Ben Thanh Market.
Where the room name matters
Yoko Airport Saigon has rooms without windows. One review describes the booked room having none, with a scent diffuser keeping it from feeling stuffy; another describes having a window and enjoying the openness.
The type names carry the signal — some say City View and the Superior types do not. For a single night it may not matter much, but knowing beforehand is different from finding out at check-in.
When the airport area is wrong
If you came to see the city, both of these are in the wrong place. Ben Thanh Market is 5.6–5.8km away, and one review puts it plainly: awkward if the city is the point, excellent for a layover.
- To walk Ben Thanh Market and the Reunification Palace, stay in District 1. Cochin Zen Hotel is 320m from the market and A&Em Art Hotel 340m. Both attach “no window” to a Deluxe type, so read the full room name
- Travelling with children, or planning a day inside the hotel, Lotte Hotel Saigon is a five-star with 283 rooms, a pool, sauna, spa and kids’ zone, with ages 4–11 free
- For the whole district see where to stay in District 1
There is also a middle path: book the airport area for the arrival and departure nights and District 1 for everything between. At 26–29 minutes apart, moving one transfer into daylight hours removes the pre-dawn drive entirely.
How this list is put together
- Verified distances to Tan Son Nhat Airport, Saigon Railway Station and Ben Thanh Market
- How you actually reach the terminal — in this area that decides more than distance does
- What applies at a late check-in and a pre-dawn check-out
- How each room type states its window or view
Distances come from Agoda property data, with the verification date on each hotel page. Shuttle times and which terminals are served change, so confirm when you book. This is researched from booking sources rather than written from a stay, and it does not quote rates.
