iQ Hotel Roma
It fits when you do not want to sacrifice one half of Rome to be near the station, and facilities like laundry and a sauna change a longer stay. It does not fit if you want the shortest possible walk to the platform — five of the seven are closer.

The only one that is not furthest from anything
Rome punishes you for optimising a single number. Book the closest thing to Termini and St Peter’s moves to nearly four kilometres away. Book for the old city and you lose the airport train.
This address is the compromise that does not feel like one.
| Distance | Rank among the Termini seven | |
|---|---|---|
| Colosseum | 1.2km | closest |
| Pantheon | 1.5km | second |
| St Peter’s Basilica | 3.4km | second closest |
| Roma Termini | 500m | sixth of seven |
| Fiumicino Airport | 24.0km | — |
It gives up one thing — the sprint to the platform — and it is top-two for everything else. On Via Firenze, off Via Nazionale, it is far enough from the station forecourt to feel like a street rather than a concourse, and still an eight-minute walk with a case.
Rooms — the widest occupancy range near the station
Doubles, twins, triples and quads. Only two other properties in this area list a quad, and in a city where most central hotels stop at two people that is the practical reason families end up here.
Room names run from a small double up through the quad, so the label is doing real work — a “small double” is exactly what it says. Confirm the bed configuration rather than the room name if you are three or four.
Nobody in the sample we read complains about size, which given how often that comes up elsewhere in this comparison is worth stating.

Facilities — a sauna, a gym and a laundry room
That combination is uncommon at four stars in central Rome, where hotels are typically carved out of old buildings with no room for any of it. Guests describe using the gym and sauna, and mention them alongside a self-service laundry, a microwave, ice and vending machines.
Read that list again and it describes a stay measured in days rather than nights. On a three-night trip none of it matters. On a week with children and one case each, the laundry decides how much you pack.
Breakfast is the other standout — ten of the twelve reviews we read raise it, several noting the quality against Italian prices. Cleanliness dominates the rest of the sample at nine of twelve.

Best for
- Stays of four nights or more
- Splitting days between the Forum and the old city
- Travelling with children who need a laundry
Not ideal if
- You need the station within three minutes
- You want a grand five-star lobby
Facilities that matter on a longer stay
A sauna, a gym and a self-service laundry. That is an unusual set at this level in central Rome, where four-star hotels are typically converted floors of an old building with no room for any of it.
Guests bring these up unprompted, and the pattern is telling: they are described alongside a microwave, ice and vending machines — the apparatus of a stay measured in days rather than nights. On a three-night trip none of it matters. On a week with children and one suitcase each, the laundry is the difference.
What guests say repeatedly
Cleanliness dominates — nine of the twelve reviews we read raise it, which is the highest share of any property in this area and consistent with the 9.3 across 4,419 reviews. Staff and value come next. Nobody in the sample we read complained about noise or the walk.
We have not stayed here. This is a summary of patterns across the guest reviews on the booking page, read on the date below; we pass on only points that several people make.
Before you book
- 88 rooms, four stars. Doubles, twins, triples and quads are listed — the triple and quad options are the reason families end up here
- Check-in 14:00, check-out 11:00
- Via Firenze sits between the station and the Quirinale, which is why both the Forum and the old city are reachable on foot. Rome’s metro does not cross the historic centre, so walkability is the thing to check, not the nearest station
- City tax is charged at check-out and rises with the star rating; it is not in the price you booked (the detail is on the Italy page)

FAQ
Why choose this over a hotel right at the station?
Distance to everything else. It is the closest of the seven to the Colosseum (1.2km) and second closest to the Pantheon (1.5km), while still being 500m from the platforms. The properties closest to the station are the furthest from the old city.
Is there really a sauna?
A sauna, gym and spa area are listed in the property facilities, and guests mention using the gym and sauna. That combination is uncommon at four stars in this part of Rome.
Does it suit families?
Triples and quads are listed alongside doubles and twins, which is the practical constraint in Rome. Confirm the actual bed configuration when booking rather than relying on the room name.
