For two people the rooms are compact. Deluxe Double is 22sqm, Junior Suites 25sqm, Deluxe Family and Premier Deluxe 27sqm, and Family Deluxe Premier 30sqm. That is small for the area, so if you are settling in for several nights with large cases, start with the bigger categories.

Groups change the picture. The Deluxe Connecting Room is 58sqm with two bathrooms, and the Connecting Family Room is 60sqm with two queens and a king. Reviews describe five people using a connecting pair as one unit, and a three-generation family doing the same. That range is unusual in a 25-room hotel.

Check heating by category. Most types list it, but Premier Deluxe and the Connecting Family Room show no heating line in the room data — worth confirming for a winter booking. Seventy per cent of guest comments about the beds are recorded as positive.

Facilities — Eden Restaurant, a spa, and what is missing

Dining is Eden Restaurant, buffet and à la carte, listed as American and Vietnamese, with buffet and continental breakfast. There is also a spa and massage, sauna and steam room, a shared lounge, and parking is listed as free.

Know what is absent. At 25 rooms, no pool is listed. If your plan involves retreating indoors when the weather turns, this is the wrong address. If the room is only for sleeping between early starts, nothing here is missing.

Small properties live on service, and the reviews reflect that: bags held after check-out, a bag left in the lobby kept safe, staff checking a Hanoi bus booking and its pickup on a guest’s behalf. The recurring criticisms are a repetitive breakfast menu and fittings that are starting to show their age.

Compared & alternatives — sleeping base or somewhere to spend the day

Even inside the same town the propositions differ. Bottom line — you are buying the first half-day

Central address, hospital at 380m, Sun Plaza on foot. That is the whole offer, and for a trip that begins with a dawn arrival off the Hanoi road it is a good one: drop the bags, walk out, come back when the room is ready.

What it does not offer is anywhere to sit out bad weather. Small rooms and no pool are fine if you are barely in them, and a problem if you are not.
